MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni was chosen to lead the ICC ODI team of the year for the period between August 7, 2012 and August 25, 2013. Shikhar Dhawan and Tillakaratne Dilshan were named the openers while Mitchell Starc, James Anderson and Lasith Malinga formed the pace attack.
Virat Kohli was not named in the elusive eleven as others such as the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla had a more profitable year as compared to the flamboyant Indian batsman. Kohli scored just two hundreds (one against Zimbabwe and West Indies each) and three fifties from 21 innings during the period.

Alastair Cook was named the Test captain for the period in contention. MS Dhoni and Cheteshwar Pujara were the two Indians to make it to the eleven.
Dale Steyn earned a place in the ICC Test Team of the Year for the sixth successive year.

The teams were chosen by a specially appointed panel chaired by the ICC Cricket Committee chairman and former India captain, Anil Kumble. The announcement was made by the ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson at a media conference in Mumbai.
The short-lists for the LG ICC Awards, which recognises the best international players for the stipulated period, was also announced.
Dhoni won the People's Choice Award. He became only the third cricketer to win this coveted prize after Sachin Tendulkar, who was the first-ever recipient in 2010 and Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka who won it in 2011 and 2012. Other nominees for the award were Australia's Michael Clarke, England's Alastair Cook, India's Virat Kohli, and South Africa's AB de Villiers.
